Flanders. 15th Century. One of the most beautiful examples of Books of Hours from Europe, from the great school Ghent-Bruges.
406 pages in fine vellum measuring 185 x 125 mm with 46 full-page miniatures, plus over 22 large-sized, complete borders enclosing a text with another small miniature.
Splendid, richly illuminated manuscript preserved in the Royal Seminary of St. Charles Borromeo (Zaragoza).
Handcrafted leather binding with ironworks in antique silver and slipcase of elm root wood.
Such is its beauty that many people have wanted to see in it the direct hand of no less than Gerard David, Simon Bening, Horenbout or Memling, who have left an indelible mark in the history of miniatures. But so far it has been attributed to the anonymous Master of the Prayer Books of 1500.
Accompanied by a volume of studies. Limited edition of 898 numbered copies with notarial certificate.
